The Collision of Group and Individuals
As a number, six has an extensive associations and implications in different cultures. In Egypt, six is a cosmic number in the material world, representing time and space. In China, six is the directions of up, down, left, right, front and behind; or up, down, east, west, north and south, meaning the whole of heaven and earth. In Greece, six is a perfect number, also known as the “complete number”; but in the Bible, six represents the mortals and their imperfections, including their weaknesses and sins. We Are Now Six uses the various combinations of six as an entry point: 1 vs 5 is one being outnumbered by five, the politics of 3 groups of 2 vs 1, 3 groups of 1 on 1, or the natural harmonious whole, or even the singular ones that work on its own, etc. It is the innumerable entanglements of collisions, contrasts, interactions, negotiations, adjustments and compromises of individuals and the crowds, minority and majority, the underprivileged and the mainstream.
