Community Oral History Theatre Project (Kwun Tong District) – The People, The Story And The Memory
Description
Description
Through its names “Koon Fu” (official salt field) to “Koon Tong” (mandarin pond), and finally “Kwun Tong”, what has happened in the course of the district’s evolution? Transformed from a barren patch of land to a densely populated commercial and residential district, Kwun Tong has many stories about people and events to tell.
A group of elderly citizens, who have lived in Kwun Tong for many years, present the past of their district in the form of an oral history theatre. Through their finale performance, called Kwun Tong – the people, the story and the memory, we can cherish the memory of the past and find out from their feelings and experiences how much remains today after years of change. The story was staged at Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre and compiled into a book.
