Chu Yi Bing plays Great Cello Concertos

Description

Description

An all-Dvořák programme
– Carnival Overture, Op.92
– Cello Concerto in B minor, Op.104
– Symphony No.8 in G major, Op.88
Chu Yibing, the first Chinese cellist ever winning a prize in an international competition, was granted as the principal and guest principal cellist of many international recognised orchestras including the Basel Symphony Orchestra and Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Besides, Chu had also played with other great cellists such as Rostropovich, Greenhouse, etc.

To celebrate the annual concert of the season 2016/17 of Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra, Chu will be performing two contrasting cello concertos with the orchestra of more than 80 teenagers on stage, aging from 8 to 18. Our assistant music director, Johnny Ng and guest conductor, Andrew Ling, will both lead an all-Haydn programme on the 9th and an all- Dvořák programme on the 10th, complementing the two well-known cello concertos by the composers.
