Centrifugal Art Force — Digital Ink Painting and Animation of Wong Chung Yu

Description

Description

The beauty of ink art has continued for one thousand years already. Time shifts and it can be expressed through the screen with the help of digital media now. Wong Chung-yu practiced ink art for twenty years. He keeps on looking for the ways to interpret the tradition by contemporary approaches. Wong developed and publicly released an ink painting software called Pure ink by integrating the knowledge that he acquired from his experiences in digital art practice in the past ten years. The Chinese name of the software takes the meaning of exerting centrifugal force on ink art. As force always exists as a pair. The exertion of centrifugal force actually suggests an exertion of centripetal force on ink art.
Centrifugal Art Force exhibits new artworks created by Wong Chung-yu with the use of this software. Force expands and contracts differently in the works. Every move triggers a variation of ink between condensed and dilute conditions, and between wet and dry conditions. The exquisite works in this exhibition demonstrate how skilfully an artist bent the advance technology in order to serve the art form that he excelled in.
