Description

Description

‘The Berliner Philharmoniker’s clarity and definition are immaculate.’ Gramophone

Acclaimed as one of the best orchestras in the world, the illustrious Berliner Philharmoniker will perform in Hong Kong for two concerts.
Under the leadership of Sir Simon Rattle, the Orchestra ushers into an innovative era with vibrant concert programmes, wide-reaching education initiatives with their partner Deutsche Bank and a state-of-the-art Digital Concert Hall which streams concerts at Berlin’s Philharmonie to the internet. Sir Simon is going to conclude his tenure as the Orchestra’s Chief Conductor in 2018, a position he has succeeded from Claudio Abbado since 2002.
In two evenings the Berliner Philharmoniker will perform monumental symphonic works by Richard Strauss, Brahms, Stravinsky and Rachmaninov. Lang Lang will perform Bartók‘s energetic second concerto on the first evening, on the second the Orchestra will perform a work composed by eminent Korean composer Unsuk Chin especially for the Orchestra.
