Bands Around The World

Description

Description

In an imaginative musical journey prepared by eminent conductor Dr Yip Wai-hong, the Hong Kong Professional Winds will collaborate with pianist Jacky Wong to travel through a kaleidoscope of different cultures, performing inspiring classical works under the baton of Kelvin Ngai.

The concert “Bands around the World” will be staged on November 14 to conjure up scenes and sounds from expansive Africa, mystical India, spectacular America, romantic Europe and the awe-inspiring landscape of Scotland.

The programme includes Yoder/Walters’ “Bands around the World”, McCoy’s “African Symphony”, Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Song of India”, the second and fourth movements of Dvorák’s symphony “From the New World”, Arnold’s “Four Scottish Dances” and Schwarz’s “Around the World in Eighty Days”. In addition, Jacky Wong will perform the first movement of Beethoven’s concerto “Emperor” as conductor and piano soloist in the concert.
