Academy Concert: Que Reste T’Il?

Description

Description

Que Reste t’il? – Charles Trenet’s beautiful chanson (translated as What remains?) is the title of this superb cabaret tour de force by Robyn Archer. Accompanied by Michael Morley (piano) and George Butrumlis (accordion), Ms Archer takes the audience on a highly emotional, highly satirical journey through French song; from rarely performed material from Paris in the 1880s, through each decade to the 1970s. With wonderful musicianship from this trio, Que Reste t’il is moving, uplifting, captivating, and often very funny.

Robyn Archer AO is recipient of the 2013 Best Cabaret Performer in Australia’s prestigious Helpmann Awards. UWA Press publishes Detritus, her selected speeches. She is the artistic director of The Light in Winter created for Federation Square, Melbourne and was Centenary of Canberra Creative Director. Archer is also Deputy Chair of the Australia Council, patron of numerous arts organizations and a mentor for the European Festivals Association’s Atelier. She is an Officer of the Order of Australia, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France), Officer of the Crown (Belgium), and holds honorary doctorates from Flinders University (SA), and the Universities of Sydney and Canberra.
