Description
Beethoven’s fifth symphony is thought by many to be the greatest musical work ever. Its first notes came to mean ‘V for Victory’: the mood is one of ultimate triumph. Composing the second symphony, Beethoven spoke of ‘setting out on new paths’. In the second and fourth symphonies, we hear him reach ever more dazzling musical heights.
