All schools will be learning Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
Julius Caesar is a history play and tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written and first performed in 1599. It is one of several plays written by Shakespeare based on true events from Roman history, such as Antony and Cleopatra and Coriolanus. Of which, Antony and Cleopatra was often consider as a sequel of Julius Caesar.

The original play was set in Rome in 44 BC, the play depicts the moral dilemma of Brutus as he joins a conspiracy led by Cassius to murder Julius Caesarto prevent him from becoming dictator of Rome. Following Caesar’s death, Rome is thrust into a period of civil war, and the republic the conspirators sought to preserve is lost forever.

Although the play is named Julius Caesar, the central psychological drama of the play focuses on Brutus’ struggle between the conflicting demands of honour, patriotism, and friendship.

Settle on a comfy perch and enjoy a story about the friendship between a boy and a bird – told without dialogue through beautifully crafted puppets and live music.

Puppeteer Chen Ying-ching performs free shows for children at the Xiqu Centre with live music accompaniment by Lau Chi-bun. Inspired by the children’s book Tree of Birds by author and illustrator Susan Meddaugh, the puppets bring to life the story of a boy who nurses an injured bird back to health but then is reluctant to let his new friend fly away.

Featuring a cat as narrator, and a set design inspired by traditional Japanese tea rooms, the show provides an engaging, thought-provoking experience for children and parents alike.

Collaborating with Hong Kong’s On & On Theatre Workshop, these citizens create a living, breathing portrait of our city: part theatre, part reality, and 100% Hong Kong.
