“as such…” – a photographic study exhibition

This exhibition is the result of a three-year project in which the members of the “as design” studio here in Hong Kong undertook a private course of study, documentation, meditation and mindful self-reflection about their photography. They also studied the history and theory of photography.
The exhibition is comprised of two parts: “image taking” and “image making”. “Image taking” is the relatively conventional photographic approach, while ”image making” is a stage where photographic images are seen as the raw material for further explorations of visual representation.
The process of photography aims not only at the subject in front of the camera but also at a photographer’s inner journey into their own life. The exhibition showcases the results of the inner journey that each participating photographer experienced.
