“ENCOUNTER: PART 2” – Mixed Media & Installation Exhibition
Visual Arts

Description
Description
White Cube Hong Kong is pleased to present ‘Encounter’, a project conceived in two parts that brings together works by the gallery’s represented artists. Part two, which includes paintings, sculptures, installation and works on paper, is organised into three sections across the gallery’s exhibition spaces.
To encounter is to experience and engage, often unexpectedly. This project aims to facilitate such encounters, addressing the similarities, connections and even contradictions in the concepts. By highlighting the varied artistic perspectives and the development of different methods of enquiry, the selection is intended to generate new dialogues between a range of artworks as they ‘encounter’ one another: in turn proposing new perspectives and understandings.
In the ground floor gallery, works by some of the most important and influential contemporary European artists, including Antony Gormley and Anselm Kiefer, are brought together. Addressing major themes of humanity – the body in space, mortality, history and identity – their differing artistic practices nonetheless attest to a concern with a shared struggle: what it means to be human.
