The Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra (HKYSO) of the Music Office under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold its annual concert, which will also serve as a post-tour concert of its Russia tour, entitled “Tchaikovsky and Butterfly Lovers”, at 8pm on November 28 (Saturday) at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall.
The orchestra recently visited Russia and participated in the International Music Festival Eurasia in Yekaterinburg, where its performances won wide acclaim. In this concert, the orchestra will perform pieces from its Russian tour for Hong Kong audiences. Highlights include “Overture for Orchestra” originally commissioned by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra; “Fire Torch Festival” from “Yunnan Tone Poem”, which is inspired by the ethnic Yunnan people celebrating their traditional festival; “The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto”, taken from an ancient Chinese love story; Tchaikovsky’s c
