Romeo & Juliet

Description

Description

Our conductor tonight, Yu long, has devised a Russian programme around the story of Romeo and Juliet. Great passions breed great music. Both Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev were inspired by Shakepeare’s “star cross’d lovers”. And we welcome the dazzling violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja in Prokofiev’s second concerto, composed at almost exactly the same time as Prokofiev’s ballet.
