Edo De Waart | John Adams & Brahms

Description

Description

Hailed for his wondrous dexterity by Gramophone magazine, Timothy McAllister is one of the foremost saxophonists of his era. The Saxophone Concerto was written for him in 2013 by Pulitzer Prize and Grammy-award winning composer, John Adams. Inspired by jazz, the composer challenged the technical and expressive powers of the instrument in this work. As part of the 45th anniversary celebrations, our former Artistic Director Edo de Waart once again leads the orchestra in Brahms’s delightful Symphony no. 2.
