“He was not of an age, but for all time!”
Human nature is no difference from the past despite the evolving world.
Shakespeare’s works have been nurturing the art and literature for ages. The scenarios and characters’ personalities in his plays effectively reflect the reality, and we still encounter these in modern society.
Well-known tragic romance Romeo and Juliet inspired Bernstein’s West Side Story, the Boardway musical based on long-existing racial conflicts in the American community where the feud eventually led to the death of a couple from two different nations. Wars for power and vengeance not only happen in human’s world, but also in animal kingdom. Worldwide hit motion picture and musical The Lion King is the wild animal version of Hamlet, in which a prince seeking revenge on his uncle for his father’s death is the basic storyline of both plots.
This year is the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death and Hong Kong Symphonic Band would like to bring you into his theatre world through wind band music, collaborating with Class 7A Drama Group. You will experience a refreshing performance with drama show and wind band music.
