Art Habitat- A Brand New of Experience Collecting And Displaying Art At Home

Description

Description

Art and culture always go hand in hand with our daily life. The literati used to collect calligraphy, paintings and art objects in the past; now we collect comic books, films and limited edition furniture. Art appreciation is an essential part of collecting art. The Hong Kong Arts Centre is now bringing art out of the museum, into the homes of many. ‘Art Habitat’ is a collaborative project between the Centre and the Hong Kong Art School, aiming to study and encourage art collecting. The rental scheme benefits individuals with short term art loans, by putting art in a brand new context- each ‘adopted art work’ is to able to dwell in a domestic environment. Photography, painting and ceramic art work will be provided by graduates and current students from the Hong Kong Art School, to be loaned by the public. Hong Kong Arts Center is setting up a display on the second floor to introduce the scheme and loan art pieces, which will serve as an active gesture to encourage the public to experience art in a domestic environment.
