Echoing Harmony
Visual Arts

Description
Description
‘Harmony’ is the overriding theme of Chinese Ink artist Li Ting Ting’s
second exhibition at Karin Weber Gallery. Be it a violin or a solitary
individual communing with nature, the current focus in her signature
still-lives and landscapes is on emotions of restfulness, tranquillity,
equilibrium and joy.
With the evolution of her individual style to include relief and space, Li
Ting Ting successfully creates new dimensions and multiple windows
to offer differing viewpoints that pique the viewer’s curiosity and
imagination. Layering of images, a critical element of the artist’s style,
is cleverly used to introduce a third dimension as she experiments with
infusion of the concept of time into her compositions. Images of objects,
such as a violin, or of hermits are painstakingly created with overlapping
washes to create suggestions of depth and time that reflect an unknown
and infinite reality. Using waterfalls and mountains as her subjects in
landscapes and a colour palette that leans heavily towards blues and
greens draws on archaic Chinese painting references and once again
emphasise the blending in with nature and infinity
