Hollowing Out – Sculpture Exhibition by Margaret Chu

Description

Description

Upon encountering various highs and lows, the artist has since distrusted the idea of “eternity” and embraced the eventual comes and goes in life. With the changes in time, space and thoughts, our physical appearances are no longer trustworthy given their impermanence. Without our hearts, humans are merely sacks of flesh. Disregarding how long this body could physically retain, it would always be hollow, making it inherently hypocritical.

Inspired by the act of “draining” and “hollowing out”, the artist wishes to reflect upon the meaning of existence through a series of figurative forms, ultimately exploring the value of “eternity” under the context of different eras.

Created with cardboards, these works signify the state of being temporary and easily-disposable.
