JACK WHITTEN ︱First Solo Exhibition in Asia
Visual Arts

Description
Description
The exhibition will cover the artist’s creations from the 1960s to the 2010s, including paintings, sculptures, and selected works on paper that were rarely exhibited before. The featured multi-dimensional paintings blur the boundaries between sculpture and painting as well as between the artist’s studio and the outside world. These art pieces combine geometric abstraction with found objects to unearth its spiritual and metaphysical themes. The exhibited works on paper emphasize the artist’s light-heartedness and improvisational skill when looking for his own unique visual language, and thus prove his persistence in using painting as a means to express ideas and improve his creative methods. The exhibition presents a highly sensitive artist who knows how to combine modernist abstract art with the touch of historical narratives, and merge the spirit and material of the work into one.
