Taiwan’s Chung Chiao and Assignment Theatre Company adapted Bertolt Brecht’s “The Threepenny Opera” and turned it into “Taipei Opera”, exposing the corruption of the Taiwanese Government and the collusion of businesses and the public sector.
Now, Hong Kong-based Pong Yat-ming (who is critical of the hegemony of land owners, and who promotes self-autonomy in everyday life) and the Ageneration Theatre Company have adapted “Taipei Opera” and created “Hong Kong Opera”.
