Description
Fireworks dazzle and amaze – yet they are ephemeral. As they burn they vanish and the world becomes silent again. A firework’s explosion doesn’t elicit warmth; instead, there is desolation once the spectacle ends. Perhaps life is like a firework For nothing lasts.
CCDC Resident Choreographer Sang Jijia explores fireworks as a metaphor, questioning the human experience and the inevitable changes we face in life. Our struggle for survival opens us to pain and anguish, love and suffering, to risks and the urge to protect – to life and death. Now middle-aged, Sang never stands still to aspire a novelty of his choreographic language, exploring warmth and affection – a shift evident in this new work for CCDC, in which we unearth and recognise tenderness in our hearts.
