After Some Serious Dinner Meetings: Choi Yee Company Group Exhibition
Visual Arts

Description
Description
In 2012, the Choi Yee Co. Ltd plaque was removed from unit 814, Block B, Wah Luen Industrial Centre, Fotan, and nine occupants along with two dogs left to branch out into new chapters of life. Because of particular, unusual characteristics, these nine people were once identified as what one might consider outsiders or social outcasts. But who is there to say that the outcasts cannot have their own mysterious group? To this day, we have remained friends for six years; there is without a doubt, an understanding and acceptance of the others behaviors and individuality that still prevails. Our first exhibition as a group was held when we lived under the same roof as roommates, and so the works naturally reflected similar tastes and ideas. Now, three years later, we gather again with the hope to see how our paths diverged over time while also recognizing that there is still long road ahead. As we become better judges of character with time, can we remind each other of the person we once were, or discover new characteristics in the person we are becoming? We used video format as the medium in our previous exhibition, and again this time, to document our reality, unfold sentiments, and visually construct new perspectives of one another.
